The Problem

Children don’t care about statistics.

But these statistics tell the story…

  1. In Cambodia three decades after the fall of the Khmer Rouge, four families out of ten live in poverty;

  1. In Cambodia, tens of thousands of children are forced into begging, servitude and prostitution to support their families.

  1. In Cambodia, 48% of children are "lucky enough" to go to school go for just nine years -- well below the global average.

  1. Cambodia spends only 1.7 per cent of its Gross Domestic Product on education. Compared to Vietnam and Laos’ which is 5.34 and 2.32 per cent respectively.

And yet…in Cambodia one child's education

  -- tuition, transportation and books --

Costs less than $2 per day
